August Round Up

A bit of a slow month in August, with only 1 complete.

#4 Photoshop ALL my travel photos - this has gone nowhere, while I did post Bristol, I haven't processed anything since June. Really need to pick the ball back up here.

#71 Go to a pro hockey game in Canada - the plan was to go to Vancouver next year for the winter olympics, & almost 2 months after putting my leave form in, I finally got word it had been approved, but now The Boy is thinking it'll just be too busy so we should go somewhere else instead...not sure whether that will entail Canada...or anywhere else in the world.

#81 Read a book a month every month - I think I'm going to call 'Dirt Music' quits. I just don't understand why it rates so well. I've never been a person to stop reading a book...but I'm definitely feeling like I could be enjoying so many others right now.

#91 Buy a unit - We're officially house hunting :) Nothing of major interest just yet, but hopefully soon. Just the idea of having a garage really makes me smile.

#94 Save 3 months salary & don’t touch it - this one took a while to get started as I had some other savings priorities first (like a deposit on a unit), now it's jumping in leaps and bounds. I'm thinking it'll be done by december.

I'm going through a bit of a lull at the moment, not really seeing much to progress on, but hopefully it doesn't last long. Plenty left to do.

Up the duff

Last night was very special. My big sister was in Sydney for a few hours due to a bit of a flight booking mixup, so I met her at the airport & took her to do some maternity shopping & have dinner before her husband arrived and they were off to visit the in-laws down south.

It was the first time I got to see her gorgeous belly...carrying twins!!!

The sun was down before she landed, which meant we couldn't go and do any shots in a park or beach, so we rather hilariously roamed an empty shopping centre looking for interesting backdrops and chairs.

The lighting was terrible, but hey, you make do with what you've got.

Just as we were getting ready to go, we noticed a book store was still open and thought this would be a bit funny/cute, and nothing I've ever seen in maternity shoots before :)

Stay tuned for Xmas when I head to Alice Springs when she's 36 weeks...we've got some fun stuff planned for a proper shoot...and if nature times itself to perfection...I can meet the babies too!!

Shell & Dean, I hope you like these and I can't wait til I see you again xx

Redecorating

I decided it was time to do some redecorating around here. I've been a bit over the green for a while now, feeling it was a bit too distracting against the photos.

I wanted the background for the posts to be white, but not the whole page. I'm loving the grey :)

Also, while I was there, I figured it was also time to update the header images. They've all been featured on the blog already, so you may remember them.

I'm feeling fresh and rejuvinated.

Sydney - Part III

You may have guessed it with the last post, but I'm playing catch up. The event that was New Zealand seemed to have completely absorbed my blog for almost a month, and once I  came out the other side I was just a bit over photos to spend any quality time blogging.  My apologies.

Remember when Sarah came to Sydney for the June long weekend?? Well, I never quite finished telling the story. We spent an afternoon doing something VERY touristy, yet close to home. Palm Beach - AKA Summer Bay - home of Home & Away.

I love the colour of the water in this one. It just makes me smile :)

Bristol

I've literally has this post sitting in draft since June, and even then it had been a while since I'd posted any of the old travel pics...back on track. In the afternoon after Bath, Sarah & I headed to Bristol for one final night in England before heading to Ireland. It's quite a cute place and probably bigger than I had imagined.

#37 Run/walk the city 2 surf

I'm not really sure yet if I have the words to describe today...but I'll start with saying, another completed task from the list. Up far too early for a Sunday I headed to the city to 'compete' in the City 2 Surf. It really was a fantastic day weather-wise, but I am so so so sore I can't even begin to explain.

**Edit** - Probably should explain for the internationals what this actually is. It's a 14km 'fun run' from Hyde Park in the CBD to Bondi Beach & has been going for 38 years. It's got everything from the very serious international athletes, to the groups vying for the best dressed title. It's also a major fundraiser for a whole bunch of charities.**

I've never seen so many people in one place before, 75000 participants, countless volunteers, some rather interestingly dressed people, and even stranger onlookers...it really is a sight.

The budgy boys drew quite a crowd. Their tag line "We don't see it as a 14km fun run. It's a 14km catwalk".

And here's us. I'm about to introduce you all to something very special.

foundations.

My friend Rosie (56482) spent some time volunteering in Uganda earlier this year, and was so touched in so many ways being there she decided she wanted to build an orphanage there. So here we are, perhaps Australia's newest charity. We're still in the establishment phase, in the process of getting the website up and running, but hopefully I'll be able to expand on this all soon. For now, watch this space.

This was such a sight. I've always watched it on tv, but to be right in amongst it was incredible.

Like I said, there were some very interesting spectators, an AC/DC tribute band rocking on (perhaps still going from Saturday night).

1/2 way there!!

We weren't as slow as it looks...time had clocked on 45mins before we started walking. The times are published in the newspaper on Tuesday so I'll update this later with our official time.

For now, I need to either do some stretching...or sleep...
